Person Specification

Professional Education and Training

– Essential:

  • NMC Registered Nurse/HCPC ODP
  • Relevant accredited qualification relating to clinical specialty and theatre discipline.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development relating to clinical speciality
  • Mentorship

– Desirable:

  • Educated to degree level or recognised equivalent
  • SFA/ALS/APLS
  • Recovery Course
  • Management and Leadership Qualification.

Experience

– Essential:

  • Extensive post registration experience working in theatres
  • Broad range of specialty experience working in Scrub role or Anaesthetic role or Recovery role.

– Desirable:

  • Paediatric Theatre Experience

Knowledge

– Essential:

  • Understanding of principles of clinical governance (e.g. risk management, audit, quality)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

– Desirable:

  • Knowledge of clinical incidents and complaints and reporting

Skills

– Essential:

  • Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent numeracy and computer skills
  • Good time management and teaching skills
  • Ability to work well both in a team and on own initiative
  • Ability to delegate tasks as appropriate
